it says server is up but it doesent work and makes you play in offline mode! is it just me or is everyone else playing as toad?

If you're Toad, change worlds(type /home, /tutorial, or use a teleporter). You should be the character you selected.
The game may still say the server is offline, even if it is. If the server is online, you can chat with other players and edit a house that you buy(please do not buy a house unless you actually play).

New players do play as toad. I made another account and it's stuck as Toad. Other people don't play as Toad because their data and other stuff were preserved since they came from the old CND site.
