Works with the most recent version, can be auto-updated with an option, only needs a username, is free and is virus free. Works with only few minecraft servers. I haven't gotten to play much because I installed the windows 8 preview and my video card is incompatible. I am pretty disappointed with it, not because of the incompatibility although that sucks but because I am just let down by the start screen. I was really hoping for something that brings the quality and customizability iphone/ipad lacks but it is even more simplistic and uncompromising. It all feels incredibly pointless on a non-touch PC.

Notch (the game's creator) doesn't care if you get a cracked version if you can't buy the real version. However, the downside is that you can't go on every multiplayer servers.
