qwinbeufrinwokdmTry downloading "Super Mario Bros."! It has a chatroom, but it's glitched. The REAL beauty of the game is that you can make your own episode, a.k.a. your OWN Mario GAME.
A good choice for platforming fans, and those World Developers who can't finish their world because of the down server.
There is also a forum to post episodes and stuff (fixed). It works with most Joysticks and Gamepads. It is COMEPLETELY free and all you have to do is download, install, let it make changes to your computer, and let it access the Internet.

In the meantime, you can post a link to download any episodes/levels that you've made(in a .zip)!
Ask me if you have questions about the game or editor, if it's not in the HELP document included with the game(in the editor). I can explain certain things, in PM or in this forum, such as how to make certain things happen(ex. moving blocks, custom graphics/music).

hmm sounds interesting but can you play with other people like kerbykong said? If not then sorry I only DOWNLOAD games that are multiplayer like combat arms

You can't play the game online, but you can play with 2 players on the same pc.

Sorry, there is no online multiplayer right now, but there is online chat in the level editor. Chat is still in beta testing, but from what I've heard, the next version will have finished online play.

Im makeing a super mario galaxy game but i cant really get some good names for galaxys. But once i get super mario galaxy 2 my trobles will be over!

I can help give you names if you want. PM me if you want me to.
I'm making an episode where Mario and Sonic's worlds collide(literally) and Sonic is a playable character. Besides Sonic, there are no Sonic graphics yet, but there are plenty of Sonic songs being used.

How to use custom graphics
It's actually pretty simple. 1.Create or download the graphic you want to use. (make the background black, it HAS to be the same size as the original!)
2.Make sure it's a .gif. If not, right-click it and select edit, then save as GIF.
3.Check the graphic you'd like to replace. Look in the graphics folder, then search for the desired graphic. (In sponge's case, the red walk-off-cliff shy guy is npc-19. The blue turn-on-cliffs shy guy is
npc-20.)
4.Make a folder with the same name as your level or episode. Place the custom graphic in there, and give it same exact name as the original graphic.
5.If your graphic is not the exact shape as the original, you will need to create a mask. Right-click your graphic and select edit. Change the background to white, and make the graphic black. Save it as the same name, only with m at the end. (Sponge's case: npc-19m or npc-20m.) Make sure it's in the same folder as your other graphic.
6.Play your level or episode. Look for where the original graphic would be. If you did it right, your custom graphic will be there!
You can also make custom backgrounds too, but they're a bit more complicated.
You didn't ask, but...
How to use custom music
This is much easier than custom graphics. 1.Find the song you want. Save it in the same location as your level or episode.
2.Make sure it's a .mp3. If not, change the format by going to your Control Panel, switching to classic view, going to Folder Options, then unchecking the box that says: hide file extensions on known file types. Then rename your song, but change the extension to .mp3.
3. Go to the level you want to usethe song in(in the editor). Go to Level Settings, then Misc. Type in your song name and put .mp3 at the end. Then click on Custom.
4. You should hear your song play. If not, wait about ten seconds. If it still doesn't play, test your leveland wait about ten seconds. If it still won't play after that, you might've done something wrong.

That really helps! The shyguy is being replaced by a montey mole (:.
Also the custom song thing will really help for better super mario galaxy music.
thirdly how do you make a new folder in the load/save place (Done)
oh yeah and how do you make it so that when theres a boss it: scroll to the boss/change music/when it dies,it drops an orb or ? orb

Change the boundary to the size of your boss room and change the music to the desired boss theme(in level settings). Make a new layer too(in view/layers). Now make a new event(in view/events). Change the music part of the event to use current and the position part to use current. Now you can change the music and boundary back to normal.
Now make an NPC(coins you can't avoid, for example), set the death event to the one you made.
Now for the "object-appear-when-boss-dies" event. Make another event. Put your layer in the show layers part. Make the boss defeat sound in the sound part if you want. Now make your boss. Set the death event to your new event. Make your goal npc and put it in your layer.
That's about it. It's less complicated than you think. You'll get good at it eventaully.
BTW, how is your episode coming along? Did the custom graphics work?

There are Monty Mole sprites in the The Invasion 2 folder. Check through the level folders until you find it. Highlight the graphic, it's mask, and don't forget the effect(die sprite) and it's mask as well. Copy them into the desired folder. Note: The Monty Mole sprites in there are replacing the SMW Ninjii, not Shy guy.
